This project was a full renovation of a period property first built in the 1800s, located in one of the most prominent areas of the North East of England. The vision was to create a west coast–inspired interior that respected the home’s original features while introducing contemporary detailing to suit our client’s taste. The 100-year-old staircase and fireplaces were preserved, and the interiors kept minimalist in furniture and accessories but enriched with architectural detail and cabinetry.
The design united the historic character of the house with a new architect-designed extension of glass and steel. Differences in scale and proportion were resolved with careful detailing, creating a seamless transition between old and new.
